The Glass Room Community Edition
Due to high demand from visitors to the large glass rooms in London, New York, and San Francisco, who also wanted to set up similar exhibitions in their cities, the Glass Room Community Edition was developed.
These slimmed down, portable versions come in a lightweight and adaptable format that can be set up in different spaces from libraries and schools, to conferences, tech hubs, and even metro stations. In total, we have hosted over 500 Glass Room events in 71 countries around the world and editions are available in multiple languages.
The Glass Room Misinformation Edition
In the Misinformation Edition, we explore how social media and the web have changed the way we read information and react to it. Learn why finding “fake news” is not as easy as it sounds, and how the term “fake news” is as much a problem as the news itself. You can dive into the world of deep fakes, which are now so realistic, they are virtually impossible to detect. You can find out how social media platforms are designed to keep us hooked and how they can be used to change our minds. Check out the Misinformation Edition online exhibition.
Our project partners have included: the FERS, International Federation of Library Associations (IFLA), Malta Chamber of Scientists, Save the Children Italy, Save the Children Romania. The project is co-funded by the European Union.
The Glass Room IoT Edition
What is personal data in an age when data is everything but personal? Websites, apps, social media and ‘smart’ devices all thrive on the same thing – data. Not just any data, but our data.
The Glass Room IoT Edition is a pop-up exhibition that explores how society is dealing with the growing dependency on data and technology, and the normalization of monitoring and surveillance. It aims to engage visitors to think more critically about their devices and interactions with technology, as well as the mechanisms and companies that create the environment of those technologies.
The project is supported by the Swedish International Development and Cooperation Agency (Sida).
The Data Detox Kit
The Data Detox Kit offers everyday steps you can take to control your digital privacy, security, and wellbeing in ways that feel right to you. Available to be distributed as a print-out or shared virtually, the kit accompanies all the community edition exhibitions. The Data Detox Kit allows visitors to go home with the information and tools needed to empower themselves to interact with the technology in their daily lives. For more information, visit the Data Detox Kit website.
This project is supported by the Swedish International Development and Cooperation Agency (Sida).
